Third civil servant in a family; Dr George Alan follows footsteps of father, sister
Kozhikode: Dr George Alan John was on duty at Dr Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital in New Delhi when the good news came. He had secured 156th rank in civil service.
Following the footsteps of his father Dr. John Joseph and elder sister Chaitra Teresa John, Dr George Alan John became the third civil servant at Thamarakkad house in East Hill. “I am happy. Now I can serve the people in yet another way,” George Alan expressed his happiness in a few words.
George Alan’s elder sister Chaitra Teresa John had secured 111st rank in civil services in 2015. Now she is in charge of the Anti Terrorist Squad. Their father Dr. John Joseph was an IRS officer.
Dr George Alan John is working at the Orthopaedic department at Dr. Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital in New Delhi. Doctor, IPS or IAS, Dr George Alan John likes all three.
Dr George Alan came out with flying colours in the civil service examination without any special training. “I had appeared for the exam in 2015. That time my rank was above 500. As my father and sister are in this field, I had a clear idea of how to prepare,” said the doctor.
Dr George Alan completed his schooling from Kendriya Vidhyalaya at East Hill in Kozhikode. He completed MBBS from Kozhikode Medical College. Dr George Alan completed MS in Orthopaedics from Thrissur Medical College with 1st rank.
Dr George Alan is staying in Delhi with father Dr. John Joseph, who retired as special secretary from the Union Finance Department and mother Dr. Mary Abraham, who retired as joint director of animal husbandry.
Chaitra Teresa John, who is posted in Malappuram, expressed happiness in her brother’s achievement.
