Thanks to Mathrubhumi report, 3 men find friend who went missing 10 years back
Thrissur: Three men who set out in search of their friend who went missing ten years ago finally found him on the street. With this, the identity of the young man who kept reading newspapers on the roadside without begging or annoying passersby also has been revealed.
The three friends - Mahendran, a salesman at Kalyan Silks in Thrissur, Gireesh, an auto rickshaw driver and Jayan, a goldsmith - befriended Rajesh when they were staying together in Nedupuzha. Later, Rajesh went missing. They last met him at Valiyalukkal in Thrissur ten years ago.
A goldsmith and jewellery merchant, Rajesh used to wear gold ornaments during that time and was in a well-settled state. He had told them he would get married soon and invited the friends before leaving. However, he disappeared shortly after this.
Recently, 'Mathrubhumi' had published a report on Vadookkara native Tony Antony who provided food for the people on the street. Rajesh was seen in the picture given along with the report. On seeing this, the friends approached Tony and finally found Rajesh. He could also recognize all three of the old friends.
Rajesh has been depending on the organisations and individuals who provide food for those living on streets. He continued to wear masks during the COVID crisis and maintained hygiene. Though his friends told him to return to his land where he lived once, Rajesh refused. They want to build a small house for Rajesh in his own land in Nedupuzha.
The three friends only knew that Rajesh had a mental breakdown after his marriage was fixed and had to face financial crisis which drove him to the streets. His father died years ago and he was not close with his mother. After Rajesh went missing, none of his relatives made an attempt to know about his whereabouts.
