Telugu actress helps rebuild health centre destroyed in flood in Thakazhi
Thakazhi (Alappuzha): A new building has been constructed for the Family Health sub-centre in Kunnumma here which was destroyed in the flood havoc with the help of Telugu actress and anchor Suma Kanakala. The construction was completed with Rs 8 lakh contributed by her. Health minister K. K. Shailaja inaugurated the newly built building in the presence of Suma Kanakala.
Hailing from Palakkad, Suma Kanakala currently resides in Hyderabad. She happened to read about the flood-hit Kuttanad area and wanted to contribute for helping them. It was Alappuzha sub collector V. R. Krishna Teja who asked her to contribute through the ‘I Am for Alleppey’ project.
Actress Suma Kanakala said the sub collector told her that rebuilding health centres and anganwadis damaged in flood will be useful for many people. The family health centre in Kunnumma is the first of that kind which completed construction.
Minister K. K. Shailaja said that everyone should utilise the service of family health centres. Service of three doctors will be made in family health centres. The government intends to bring complete development in the health sector, the minister said.
