Supriya turns a social media star after helping visually-impaired man; Watch video
Thiruvalla: Supriya, an employee at a textile shop here, has turned a star on social media after a video featuring her noble act went viral. In the video, Supriya was seen helping a visually-impaired old man to board a bus. Over millions of people watched the one-minute long video on social media platforms.
Supriya helped the man when she was returning home on Tuesday at 6.30 pm. Noticing the aged man who is visually impaired struggling to cross the busy road, Supriya ran towards him and held his hand. When asked about his destination, the man told her that he needs to reach Manjadi in Pathanamthitta. While walking towards the main road, Supriya saw a KSRTC bus to Thiruvalla depot and she stopped it. At first, she talked to the bus conductor about the visually impaired senior citizen. Later, she guided the man towards the bus.
In the video, Supriya was seen running towards the bus for seeking help of the bus conductor to take the visually impaired man to Manjadi.
Joshua Athimoottil, a salesman at Attinkara electronics in Kurisukavala recorded the video. The video went viral after he shared it with his friends. He shot the video from the fourth floor of a building.
“I wanted to record the visuals when I noticed the woman holding the visually impaired man’s hand,” said Joshua.
When social media was celebrating the video, Supriya was busy with her household works. She came to know about the viral video when her colleague phoned her after 10 pm on Tuesday. Later she watched the video on the phone of her husband Anoop.
On Wednesday, Supriya and husband visited Joshua who turned her a star overnight.
Earlier, Supriya’s father Alappuzha native Suresh made headlines with his kind act of serving food to stray dogs amid lockdown.
Supriya and husband Anoop have two children: Ashwin and Vaiga Lakshmi.
When everyone is praising Supriya, two people also deserve appreciation for helping the visually impaired man. KSRTC bus driver S Sunil Kumar and conductor PD Remold from Alappuzha depot are the two people. The duo showed the patience to halt the bus and wait for the man. They opened the door for him and helped him board the bus. After reaching Thiruvalla depot, the KSRTC staff helped him board a bus to Pathanamthitta.
