State to have luxury cruise ship for tourism purpose
Kozhikode: Keralites can take a ride in Kerala’s own luxury cruise ship soon. The state government is all set to commission its first indigenous luxury cruise this May.
The luxury cruise will give an opportunity to take a 12-hour-long ride through the sea. It is for the first time in India, such a luxury cruise has been built for tourism and leisure.
The ship is 50 metre long and 15 metre wide. A total fund of Rs 16 crore has been spent for its construction.
Kerala Shipping and Inland Navigation Corporation is constructing the ship for the government. The construction is in its final phase at Goa.
Cruise route and ticket fare are not decided yet. According to officials, apart from enjoying the beauty of sea, passengers will have a lot of entertainment facilities in the cruise.
A total of 200 people can take ride in the ship at a time. The cruise with three storeys will have an air conditioned auditorium, mini conference hall, restaurant, children’s park and media room.
The luxury cruise will anchor even in small ports like Beypore. Whereas, facilities for passengers to board the ship should be assured in every port.
