Specially-abled NEET rank holder meets Rahul Gandhi in Wayanad; gets assurance of help
Kalpetta: One of Amina’s dream was to become a doctor. Well, she has almost made it. Another of her dream was to meet Rahul Gandhi, ever since she saw him on TV, which was realised on Wednesday.
Kollam Karunagappally native Amina, who has only half of left hand, reached the rest house in Kalpetta to meet her favourite leader. She also presented Rahul Gandhi a photo collage of him, mother Sonia Gandhi and sister Priyanka Gandhi.
1916th rank holder in NEET, Amina also shared her anxiety over her physical disability coming in between her dream profession. However, Rahul promised her all help after hearing her tale.
Rahul also asked her about the feasibility of fixing a prosthetic hand.
Doctors had advised Amina’s mother Jasmine to abort during the fifth month of pregnancy as there was no proper growth of the foetus. However, Jasmine stood strong and Amina was born with left hand only till elbow.
Amina’s father Shaukath, who was an expat, is a kidney patient and is now bedridden. Jasmine was working in gulf to look after the family. She lost the job during the pandemic. However, Amina’s rank in NEET exam, with no coaching, has brought happiness to the family.
It was while sharing this happy news through Editors Choice on Club FM UAE, Amina talked about her wish to meet Rahul Gandhi.
Amina has many hurdles to cross to reach her dream of becoming a doctor. However, she now has her favourite leader’s blessing and help all way.
