Siblings turn lockdown holidays productive with agriculture, craftwork
Muzhappilangad (Kannur): When most of the children preferred to enjoy the unexpected holidays due to COVID lockdown, Akhina and Ashin decided to do something different. The siblings chose different ways to make the holidays creative and productive.
When Akhina focussed on making handicrafts using waste materials, Ashin worked hard to turn a barren land into a vegetable garden. Akhina studies in class 9 and Ashin in class 7 at Kadambur. They are children of Thrijakanathan, a priest at Kurumba Bhagavathi temple and Preetha.
Ashin loves to spend free hours in his vegetable garden. He cultivated long beans, bitter gourd, okra, brinjal, green chilli and cauliflower and got a stunning yield. He irrigates the plant twice a day. A share of the harvested produce was given to their relatives and neighbours too.
