Schoolboy rescues pigeon trapped in high tension wire
Kayamkulam: A schoolboy with the help of fire-force rescued a pigeon fighting for its life after getting trapped in live electric cables here in Alappuzha district. The incident happened at 5 pm on Monday. Rishikesh was on his way back home from school when he saw the bird stuck on the electric cable, along the KP road, near old Lakshmi junction at Kayamkulam. Rishikesh noticed that the trapped bird was alive and was flapping its wing, trying to disentangle itself from the wire.
Rishikesh saw that a piece of rope had entwined its legs to the cable. Immediately he informed the fire-force, and the firefighters soon reached the spot. The siren of the fire engine drew a large crowd to the scene who watched the rescue operation with keen interest.
As the bird was stuck on to the electric post with a live wire, the rescue team informed the electricity office to disconnect the power. The pigeon was rescued after disconnecting the electricity. Finally, the bird flew away flapping its wings and the onlookers had a sigh of relief.
The officials saw the pigeon sitting on a balcony later. Although they tried to catch the bird to examine if the rope had caused any injury, the bird flew away. The locals congratulated Rishikesh for this heart-warming gesture.
