Saying no to marriage extravaganza, Malappuram family donates plot worth Rs 5.5 lakh for Anganwadi
Tirur: At a time when pompous marriage functions are trending, a family in Tirur has made an incredible decision. They avoided extravaganza in their daughter’s marriage and donated a plot worth Rs 5.5 lakhs for nearby Anganwadi.
Kunnuthuparambil Azeez and Sakeena had planned to conduct the wedding of their daughter Marva Sherin in a pompous way. However, they recently had a second thought. They realized that there is no point in spending lakhs for a function to make the wedding joyful and memorable. They decided to use the money for a cause.
While reflecting over such thought they came to know about the situation of an Anganwadi in Tirur municipality. The Anganwadi in ward number 17 has been functioning in a rented building for 10 years. The owner of the building has been requesting the panchayat authorities to vacate the building.
Evoked by this situation, the family came to the conclusion that the Anganwadi deserves their help. For Rs 5.5 lakhs they brought 2 cent land and registered it under the name of the municipal secretary. They also handed over the agreement with the owner to the ward councillor.
With satisfaction and happiness in their contribution, Kunnuthuparambil Azeez and Sakeena married off their daughter to Nennanchery Ashiq in Ponmundam.
