Postmortem of flood victims in mosque; Friday prayers held at bus stand in Pothukallu
Pothukallu (Nilambur): Once again Pothukallu natives have set an example for humanity through their deeds. People belonging to Muslim religion held their Friday prayers at the bus stand here as their masjid was rendered for post-mortem of the deseased people in the massive landslide at Nilambur.
Earlier, the committee members of the mosque had allowed the officials to carry out post-mortem of the deceased in the landslide at the prayer hall inside the mosque. It was permitted due to the long distance between the Nilambur taluk hospital and the disaster spot. The taluk hospital is 45 kilometres away from Kavalappara.
The decision to hold the prayers at the bus stand was taken by Masjid Al Mujahidheen committee. Women also participated in the prayers at the bus stand.
Imam C H Iqbal said that a religion becomes complete only when we share what values most for us. P V Anvar MLA also took part in the prayers.
For Pothukallu natives, this is not their first experience of showing kindness. Eight years ago, when Prabhakaran, Pothukallu native died during the rainy season, the mosque had rendered its bier to carry his body. This bier was newly bought and it was first used to carry Prabhakaran’s body.
Members of Seva Bharathi were also active here to wash the dead bodies in the mosque. Under the leadership of Adv. T K Ashok Kumar, BJP state committee member, 31 bodies were buried at the public cemetery till Friday.
