Police turn saviours for 3-week-old puppies abandoned on roadside
Kozhikode: Medical College police here turned saviours for three puppies which were left abandoned on the roadside after 20 days of birth. The puppies were found inside the cement sack near Ramanattukara road under the Thondayadu flyover.
A taxi driver informed the police after finding the cement sack moving by the roadside. SI TV Dhanajayan and team reached the spot soon after receiving the information.
When they opened the sack, the three puppies were found very weak. Worms were seen on the wound of the puppies.
Though the police tried to contact the animal husbandry department, they failed to connect to the officials. Following this, members of the WhatsApp group from Heaven of Voiceless, a voluntary association, reached the spot. They took care of the puppies by giving food and milk. The group of volunteers also took over the responsibility of protecting the three puppies.
WhatsApp group members Abhijith, Akhil Manohar and Aneesh will provide treatment and shelter to the animals. The group which include over 20 members informed that animal lovers will be invited to adopt the three puppies once they recover from illness.
Aneesh, a wild animal rescuer under forest department, arranged a temporary shelter for the puppies at his residence in Athanikkal.
