Triprayar: Jasna Rajan while travelling near the Valappad High School saw a heart wrenching sight. A one-and-half-year-old girl was tied to the school gate with a cloth. Nobody was near the kid.
Soon Jasna, who is the Valappad Manappuram Foundation Senior Councillor informed Police Care Committee member Shemeer Eledath. This became a turning point in the life of the child’s family. Valappad SI ER Baiju and team reached the spot soon. The child’s mother also arrived then.
The child, Salafiya, was the daughter of Valappad Aanavizhungi native Kadeejabi and Kozhikode native Asharaf aka Darvesh. When the mother went to fetch water the kid was tied to the gate so that she won’t crawl away.
The story of the family is a sad tale. Kadeejabi and Darvesh got married eight years ago. They have two kids. Three-year-old Salman Faris is with Darvesh’s mother in Kozhikode.
The family had been staying in Aanavizhungi Colony. Later moved to a rented house. But when the rent could not be paid they moved to the street some months back. Coolie labor Darvesh used to bring food from hotels when he gets money.
Moving from street to street they reached near the school. Kadeejabi said “We need a home for rent. I know tailoring, I also need a job”.
Hearing this Shameer and Kadeejabi’s classmates set out in search of a house and found one in Kothakulam where the family can stay for a week. Later the family will move to a house in Tirupazhanjeri for which the advance has been paid by Kadeejabi’s classmates.
Also the utensils and other things required for the house were bought and provided by the classmates.
