No luck, only hard work helped this daughter of a lottery seller
Nileswaram (Kasaragod): This is not a lucky draw win for T V Raghavan, lottery agent of Nileswaram. His daughter T M Rakhi completed MBBS from the Manjeri medical college hospital. She is currently working as house surgeon at the same college.
Raghavan from the Bengalam Laksham Veedu Colony has been selling lotteries for the last 15 years. They live in a small house built with the financial assistance of Rs 1 lakh from the SC/ST department.
Rakhi studied at GHSS Kakkat, Madikai, till 5th standard. She then joined Navodaya school in Periya and completed plus two in flying colours. Rakhi prepared for the medical entrance exam for one year. She secured the first rank in Kasaragod district in the SC category.
Raghavan hopes to shift his business to a permanent location. He wants her daughter to help the poor with her knowledge and skills.
Rakhi’s mother is V M Sobhana.
