Nehru Trophy boat race on Nov 10; All arrangements in place
Alappuzha: The preparations for the Nehru Trophy boat race has reached the final stage with almost 70 per cent of works completed. Only the repair works at the starting point, pavilion and track are left.
The gallery and platforms have been fully equipped. Around 40,000 plus tickets were booked for the boat race which is scheduled for Saturday. The unexpected floods and the fall in tourism have affected the number of spectators.
The rebooking of the cancelled tickets in August have also begun. The practice sessions of the snake boats (Chundan vallam) have been going on.
Special facility for senior citizens, differently abled
The irrigation department have arranged special facilities for senior citizens and differently abled people. This would facilitate them to watch the event peacefully without any disturbances.
This facility is set up inside the 'rose pavilion' of the NTPC and victory lane at the finishing point. Also special pathway is equipped for the differently abled to reach the pavilion and also many toilets and washrooms have been set up for them.
