Mosque arranges wedding of Hindu, Islam girls on Prophet’s birthday
Kazhakkoottam (Thiruvananthapuram): In a compassionate move, a mosque trust committee decided to conduct the wedding of two girls of financially backward families on Prophet’s birthday (Eid Milad-Un-Nabi). Ashan Marakkar Appacha Thekkathu Mosque Trust at Kaniyapuram here arranged the wedding of two young women, including a Hindu girl.
Shailaja, daughter of Kadinamkulam Chirakkal native Sasi, tied the knot with Puthuval native Shinu according to Hindu customs. The wedding dais for the girl was built on the mosque compound. Bismi, daughter of Payichira native Ramla, married Nedumangad native Shameer according to Islamic customs. Both couple were gifted with five sovereigns of gold, Rs 1 lakh each and the wedding dress also.
Minister Kadakampally Surendran inaugurated the conference held as part of the ceremony. Trust secretary M. Naseer chaired the programme. MP Adoor Prakash, MLA V. K. Prasanth, Kadinamkulam panchayat president Felix, Andoorkonam panchayat vice president Podimon Ashraf, Trust president P. M. Shaji and the couples’ families also attended the function.
