Manav's success in SSLC is the story of determination
Malappuram: Manav, Class 10 student, secured 8 A+ grades and 2 B+ grades in his SSLC board exam by sheer determination.
Although wheelchair bound, Manav, a student of Chelari Government Vocational Higher Secondary School, was mentally tough. He is the youngest child of Pottammal natives Murukkoli Subramanian and AP Anitha Bayi. Manav, who was born with a curve on his spinal cord, ran around with other children till he was in Class 5.
It was later that he developed difficulty to walk and had to undergo a surgery. Manav has not been able to move around on his feet ever since despite seeking treatment from Kozhikode Medical College and Vellore Medical College.
Subramanian, who works as a labourer at Edarikode spinning mill, will not be able to go to work on most days as he accompanies Manav to school.
Manav attends the classes only till noon. His parents sit with him throughout the class although his friends are ready to help him. Manav, who needs assistance for basic needs, was allowed the help of a scribe to write the exams. But Manav rejected it saying that he wanted to write the exam himself.
