Magnetic card to open door; this mosque in Kozhikode reopens with hi-tech safety measures
Kozhikode: When places of worship reopened on Tuesday under strict conditions amid the pandemic outbreak, a mosque in Kuttichira attracted attention with unique hi-tech safety measures. The committee in Hydros mosque has taken special care to ensure safe prayer time by installing CCTV and magnetic card system.
Devotees who arrive at Hydros Mosque will be allowed to enter after saying their name, address and phone number before CCTV camera. A magnetic card will be given to each devotee. Later, they have to show the magnetic card on a device installed near the door. The door will automatically open once the magnetic card is shown on the device.
With an aim to avoid the spread of COVID-19, only people residing close to the mosque are allowed to visit.
“Once the devotee shows his magnetic card on the device, his or her details will be automatically recorded on the system. So far, the card was given to 15 people,” said Abdul Salam, a committee member. He noted that the card will be given to only 45 people.
Devotees must perform the ritual of cleaning hands at home itself. They will not be allowed to wash at the mosque as per the COVID-19 protocol. Each devotee should bring their own ‘mussalla’ (mat) to perform Namaz.
In order to maintain social distance, devotees must offer prayer at the points marked inside the mosque. A CCTV camera is also installed inside the mosque.
Adam Fawaz and Muhammad Sajad arranged the new system at the mosque ahead of the reopening. According to them, only Rs 10,000 was spent for all the work.
