Lottery seller's honesty helps Aluva native to claim jackpot of Rs 6 cr
Aluva: PK Chandran, a native of Aluva, has won first prize worth Rs 6 cr for summer bumper lottery. He has won the jackpot for the lottery ticket which he took by assuring the agent that money will be paid later.
The man who is a native of Keezhmadu near Chakkamkulangara, won the prize for the ticket which carried the number SD 316142.
He took the lottery from Pattimattom native Smija K Mohan. The woman has been collecting lottery tickets from Bhagyalakshmi lottery centre in Pattimattom.
Interestingly, Smija phoned Chandran and some people who used to take lottery from her as 12 tickets were not sold out on Sunday. Chandran asked her to keep ticket number 6142 for him and promised that he will clear the payment when he meets her.
By Sunday evening, Smija was informed that the lottery in her possession won the first prize. After identifying that it was Chandran’s lottery ticket, Smija rushed to his house and handed over the ticket to him after receiving the ticket price of Rs 200.
Chandran stated that Smija’s honesty helped him with the ticket. Chandran is working as a gardener at Keezhmad Don Bosco.
“I have been taking lottery tickets for many years. Though I used to win consolation prizes, it is for the first time I’ m winning such a huge amount,” said Chandran.
Chandran’ s family includes his wife Leela, daughters Chalitha, Anjitha and son Anjith.
“House construction of my elder daughter Chalitha is on progress. I wish to help her financially with the lottery prize. A share of the prize money will be reserved for my second daughter’s wedding and son’s education,” said Chandran.
Chandran deposited the ticket at Kuttamassery SBI branch. KPMS honoured Smija for her honesty.
Smija is residing at Pattimattom along with her husband Rajeswaran who is also a lottery seller.
