Thiruvananthapuram: Smart Agri-villages will be established across state under the leadership of Kudumbashree. The project will be commenced from June.
The agri-villages will be based on sustainable and integrated farming methods. With this project, Kudumbashree aims to have self-sufficiency and create more job opportunities in agriculture sector.
In the primary phase of the project, one agri-village will be established in each district. Micro watersheds will be created in 500 hectares as part of the project. In Palakkad, smart agri-village will be established in Parali.
The project estimated of Rs 1 crore will be implemented in association with National Rural Livlihood Mission.
A Smart Agri-Village will include organic farming, bio-pharmacy, agro clinics, kitchen garden, terrace garden, bio-gas units, poultry farm, rabbitry, outlets with cold storages, farmer collectives, women producer groupsm farmer field school, common facility centre, farm tourism, homestay and biodiversity conservation.
A special team of Kudumbashree will survey the places which are selected for the project.
