Kochi: A new mobile application has been launched as part of the ‘Saantwanam’ project under Kudumbashree. The app helps to book for the service of ‘Saantwanam’ volunteers to check lifestyle diseases at the patient’s residence.
The volunteers would arrive at the house as per the location sent to them through the app. The required service can be informed to them beforehand and also one can know the fee and details of the volunteer who would come. The app can be used by people of any age.
Blood pressure, diabetes, cholesterol and body mass index (BMI) can be checked and the test results will be sent directly through phone. The project is implemented by Kudumbashree with the cooperation of Health Action by People (HAP). The initial phase of the project started at Ernakulam.
The facility to book for the services like geriatric care, mother and child care and pregnancy care will soon be started. Also facility for payment through mobile phone is under consideration, said Programme Manager V. M. Manjish. Saantwanam app can be downloaded from Google Play Store for free.
