Thrissur: For those who are planning to go to Malakkappara on Sunday, they can leave with the ‘Birthday kid’ at 12. 20 pm from the Chalakkudy KSRTC bus stand. Being a ‘Tusker’ amongst KSRTC buses, his birthday calls for a celebration.
This Sunday marks the first year anniversary of the commencement of the bus service to Malakkappara. Buses to Malakkappara are a rarity as it is a village bordering Kerala and Tamil Nadu but KSRTC introduced the bus service as the village quickly became a tourist destination and due to increasing demands from Sholayar Dam officials.
The going, however, wasn’t easy as it had to fight the private bus services, who were desperately trying to kick them out of competition. However, KSRTC did not backtrack and has successfully completed a year of service and now offers 4 services daily, with the support of the local people. This was how the bus earned the name ‘Tusker’.
The passengers have decided to celebrate the occasion. The celebration will take place at the Chalakkudy bus stand. The fans association and the employees will go to Malakkappara along with their families.
