KSEB staff sets up library to promote reading habit
Thriruvananthapuram: An organisation of KSEB staff has established a library exclusively for employees. The group assures supply of books to all employees in the district. In order to promote reading habit among employees and entertain readers among them, the association has arranged the library called ‘Pusthakapura’ here.
District committee office of KSEB employees organisation at Vanchiyoor was modified into a library. It was established a year ago here. KSEB employees and retired staff donated books to the library. Some people donated cash too.
“We started the library with 1400 books. Most of the employees informed that they are not finding time to visit the library. So we started to deliver books on demand at their office,” said TV Asha, secretary of KSEB employees organisation.
The delivery of books at the office received great response from employees. So large number of people started to avail the service.
With the summer vacation, the association has organised a competition titled ‘Venal Vayana’ for the employees and their family. A grand programme is being planned to celebrate the first anniversary of ‘Pusthakapura’. Projects like ‘mobile library’ is also under consideration.
A 11-member committee of KSEB employees organisation is in charge of the library administration.
