Kozhikode temple committee sets example, donates land for drinking water project
Kakkur (Kozhikode): A temple committee in Kozhikode has given away land needed for digging a well in connection with setting up a drinking water project. The Subrahmanya Swamy temple committee, near PC Paalam, Kakkur has given the land free of cost. The drinking water project will be set up in Adukkanmala Colony.
Adukkanmala Colony, where more than 50 families inhabit, has been facing severe water shortage for many years. As a result, a decision was taken to dig a well in the area. But there were uncertainties regarding the availability of a suitable piece of land. It is in this context that the temple committee stepped up and donated their land.
The temple committee president M Satheesh handed over the land documents registered under Kakkur gramapanchayat to Panchayat president K Jameela.
