Kozhikode man turns saviour for children in Rajasthan; offers food, education
Koorachund (Kozhikode): Dr Erathel Sunil's dream is to provide food and education to all children. He is working hard to achieve this. Hailing from Koorachund, Dr Sunil is working as a teacher in Rajasthan and is trying to help children on the streets by offering food and education.
Sunil Jose joined St Anselm School in Ajmer as a teacher in 1995. When he found children aged between 6-16 years working in factories in the area, he decided to educate them. First, he taught five children. Three of them secured ranks below 500 in IIT Bhubaneswar and one of them got a job in Tokyo. With this, Dr Sunil realised that he is on the right track.
At present, Sunil is teaching 300 children. He also provides food for 150 children in primary level. He has arranged a classroom for the children born in the prisons of Rajasthan. Now a lady teacher is appointed for teaching 12 children.
'Mother Teresa is my inspiration. Sometimes, I think how I can provide food for 150 children. But some voluntary organisations or clubs offer help. I plan to change the lives of the children in a way that they would not have to seek alms for survival,' Sunil said.
Dr Sunil is the recipient of Zee News Award of 2020-21. He also obtained honorary doctorate for educating the poor children. He had made headlines in the Rajasthan media several times. His wife Shiny Thomas is a teacher at Rajasthan Senior Secondary School. Their son Anupam Jose is a BTech student and daughter Shreya Jose is an MBBS student.
