Kozhikode boy Mohammed Sinan to represent India in World Ice Skating Championship
Parakkadavu: Nadapuram native Mohammed Sinan will represent India in the World Ice Skating Championship in Bormio in Italy. Sinan is only one of the two Indians who was selected for this prestigious tournament.
Sinan qualified for the competition after finishing 500 metres in 48.99 seconds in the International Short Track Speed Ice Skating competition held at Belarus on November 27.
He will take part in the International training camp and later in the ICU junior speed skating qualifiers which will be held from January 31 to February 3. He is also the only Malayali present in the Indian ice skating team. Apart from being the national junior champion of Indian short track speed skating, Sinan has also bagged gold medals in junior national speed ice skating championship held by Ice Skating Association of India and also in open ice skating challenge.
Mohammed Sinan is son of Mahmood and Najmunisa. He is also a class 9 student at Peringathur Mount Guide International School. He is training under Avdhud Thawade, who is the official coach of Indian ice skating official team.
