Kondazhi natives join hands to help a cancer patient living alone
Thrissur: Kondazi panchayat officials, social workers and local people extended a helping hand to a cancer patient who was left alone at home.
Raveendran (48), a native of South Kondazhi, was living alone in his dilapidated house. He was struggling for food and clothes as there was nobody to help him.
As his close relatives were not ready to take responsibility, ward member P Raveendran informed the panchayat authority about his condition. Earlier, his neighbours used to bring food for him.
After noticing his pathetic condition, panchayat authority sought the help of a social worker P Sobha from Pazhayannur to help him. Following this, she arranged a shelter.
Raveendran, who is too weak, was shifted to an old age home called ‘ Amma Veedu’ under Gayathri Charitable Trust in Chelakkara.
Raveendran who is a bachelor was living alone for the last 6 years. Due to his financial problems, he pledged his property for a loan.
After shifitng him to the old age home, Gayathri Charitable Trust informed that they will meet the expenditure of his treatment.
Panchayat vice president PR Viswanathan, P Prasanthi, KK Priyamvada, T Raveendran, Sobha Pazhayannur and Panchayat secretary Jayalakshmi helped in shifting Raveendran to the old age home.
