Kids donate piggy banks to CMDRF, CM promises ‘Onakodi’ to all
Thiruvananthapuram: Children in Gandhibhavan at Pathanampuram here turned role models by contributing to the relief fund. These kids have donated their little savings in piggy bank to Chief Minister’s Distress Relief Fund.
The kids handed over the money to Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan when he arrived for the 15th annual day celebrations at VJT hall here.
After receiving the donations from the kids, Chief Minister stated that he will present ‘Onakodi’ to all the kids who made the kind act. He also requested the Gandhi Bahvan authority to allow him to give ‘Onakodi’ to the kids.
The children and audience received Chief Minister’s announcement with a loud round of applause.
25 children who are inmates in the Gandhi Bhavan have donated their coin collection to CMDRF. They have saved the money which was received as ‘Vishu Kaineettam’ to purchase new dress for Onam. But realising the grief of people in flood-hit places, they decided to donate their savings.
“The coins you have donated is a treasure to CMDRF. Gandhi Bhavan officials may get you ‘Onakodi’. But I promise that I will gift you ‘Onakodi’ for this Onam,” said Chief Minister.
Pinarayi Vijayan also asserted that he will distribute ‘Onakodi’ to the children through CPM state committee member K Varadarajan.
Addressing the event, he also remembered the mothers in Gandhi Bhavan who raised fund for him during the elections.
