Kerala’s first candidate to write SSLC exam using computer scores A+ in all subjects
Malappuram: Haroon Kareem TK, Kerala’s first ever candidate to write SSLC examination through computer cleared the exam with flying colours.
Haroon, a visually impaired student, scripted history by writing the examination using a computer and without using a scribe.
With the declaration of the exam results, Haroon made headlines as he scored A plus in all subjects. Education Minister C Raveendra Nath mentioned Haroon’s name while announcing the exam results.
Haroon appeared in the exam after facing many challenges. The visually impaired student sought special permission from the state government to write the exam using a computer.
Haroon typed the answers on the computer as invigilator Manoj read out each question for him. After completing the exam, printouts of the answer sheets were taken and submitted with answer sheets of other students.
For Haroon, special arrangements were made at GVHS School in Mankada.
Though he is visually impaired, Haroon wanted to study in a normal school with students who are different from him.
When he continued his studies with the help of technology, his teachers also supported him. When the department of education permitted him to write the exam using a computer, it scripted a new chapter in Kerala’s SSLC examination history.
