Karkidaka sukhachikitsa for temple elephant Kannan begins
Neyyattinkara: Karkidakam is the time of the year when everyone concentrates on health with rejuvenation therapies. Even the domesticated elephants gets a month-long ayurvedic rejuvenation therapy to regain their health after a long period of hectic activity.
Keeping the tradition, the Sukhachikitsa for Kannan, the tusker at the Neyyattinkara Sreekrishna Temple has started.
Sukhachikitsa started with the temple melsanthi Chandrasekharan Potti performing the aarati. Devasom Assistant Commissioner B Madhusudhnan Nair gave the first morsel of the ayurvedic food to Kannan.
Two days before the Sukhachikitsa, Kannan was given the medicine for maggots. His daily routine starts with an early morning bath.
Ayurvedic medicines for digestion, vitamins, Chyavanaprasam, Ashta Choornam, green gram, onion, ground nuts, jiggery, turmeric powder are mixed together in cooked rice and given.
