Kaipuzha pilgrims’ rest house to be converted to wayside garden
Panthalam (Pathanamthitta): The Kaipuzha pilgrims’ rest house is all set to get a facelift under a new project mooted by the District Tourism Promotion Council (DTPC) and Kudumbashree District Mission.
Kulanada Panchayat President Ashokan Kulanada said the pilgrim centre is active only during the Sabarimala pilgrimage season and has been laying vacant otherwise.
The matter was taken up for discussion during the recent Sabarimala pilgrimage review meeting. Following this, DTPC Secretary and Kudumbashree District Mission Co-ordinator visited the rest house, which is owned by the Department of Tourism.
The rest house is presently held by Kulanada Panchayat. For the past four years, the centre remains shut most of the time of the year except during the pilgrimage season.
As per the new project, the rest house will provide lodging and food to visitors throughout the year.
