In Malappuram, come with plastic wastes and have free food as much as you want!
Malappuram: Good news for those who are annoyed to see their plastic wastes getting piled up or for those who carelessly discard plastic wastes on the road. You could come to the Malappuram municipality with your plastic garbage. In return, you get food as much as you want, absolutely free!
The municipality has started a scheme titled “Give plastic, get food”. Anyone who wishes to get rid of their garbage, can dispose it at the ‘Khani’, the MRF unit of the municipality. In return the municipality gives you free food. In its first phase, they provide you lunch. “The lunch is organised between 12.30 pm and 1.30 pm,” CH Jameela said. In the next phase, you could have tea and snacks. The authorities are considering to give gifts to those who are not interested in having food.
MLA P Ubaidulla inaugurated the event by offering food to Malappuram district collector Jafar Malik who came with plastic waste to the unit. The municipal councillors, NSS volunteers and other staff members also rallied on the roadside and collected plastic wastes scattered in the place.
C H Jameela presided over the function. Vice Chairman Perumbally Sayyed, Assistant Collector Rajiv Kumar Chowdhury and Suchitwa Mission District Coordinator E.T. Rakesh, Councilors Mariumma Sharif, PA Salim alias Bapputi, Rejina Hussain and Fasina Kunjhi Mohammed were present in the event. The Collector gifted Nawaz Konompara for designing the project’s emblem.
