In a benevolent act, Church organises Hindu wedding in Adoor
Adoor: A Christian church came to the rescue of cancer victim Karthikeyan as he was struggling to find money to organise his daughter’s wedding. Saint Mary’s Orthodox church, on Monday, organised the wedding of Theppupara natives Karthikeyan and Kunjipennu’s daughter Kala by taking care of all the expenses.
This is the third such wedding that the church is organising. Karthikeyam, who was working as a tapping worker, was diagnosed with cancer last year. As the treatment started, he was unable to go for work thereby putting stop to the family’s income.
Their financial state started affecting the proposals for Kala that came their way. Other than Kala, he has a daughter and a son as well. Son is a daily wage worker while the younger daughter is a student. Meanwhile, bridegroom Ranjith approached them saying finance is not a problem for him. He was even ready to get married at the Registrar’s office. But Karthikeyan was very particular to conduct the wedding in the customary way.
As per the instruction from one of their relatives, they gave an application to the church for help. The church was welcoming applications from economically poor sections of the society ahead of the church festival.
Ranjith and Kala got married on Monday at Adoor Parthasarathy temple at 11 am. Following the marriage, they were welcomed by Chittayam Gopakumar MLA and the church priest.
