How to turn abandoned old tyres into beautiful flower pots!
Kollam: Forest department employee Mohankumar has made the most of his lockdown days turning abandoned and old vehicle tyres into beautiful flower pots. Aesthetic in appearance, it is durable and environmental friendly.
It was many days back, Mohankumar tried tyre flowerpot. Busy life took its turn and it was long forgotten. But lockdown period gave him time, to restart his mission. He created lotus-shaped flower pots from tyres which attracts everyone.
“From cutting the tyre into lotus petal shape to creating the base sole and giving colour, a flower pot will take 2 to 3 hours time in making,” says Mohankumar, hailing from Anandavalleeswaram.
Tyres of lorries, cars and autorickshaws can be used for flower pots. Thin brass wires are used for joining pieces.
Mohankumar who has over 13 years of service is a last grade servant in forest department.
