Helping hand from Mammootty, tribal people get farming equipment
Moolamattam: Actor Mammootty lent a helping hand to the tribal people at Kundala Muthuvakkudy, by providing agricultural equipment. The help was provided through ‘Poorvika’ programme of Care and Share International Foundation led by Mammootty.
To receive the equipment, a group of tribal people headed by Kani A. K. Chinnaswami arrived at the shooting set of Mammootty’s new movie ‘Parole’ at Muttam Malankara. Nearly 109 families reside in Kundalakkudy and all of them have more than four acres of patta land.
The main crops they raise include carrot, cabbage, beans, green peas, butter beans, potato and other vegetables. But the farming equipment were not available for them. Since they did not get proper income from farming, they could not afford to buy the expensive equipment and it affected their regular farming works.
The Janamaithri police officers, who arrived in their colony for inspection, noticed their pathetic condition. When they contacted Mammotty, he agreed to help them. Accordingly, the tribal people reached the shooting set with the help of police.
Welcoming them, Mammootty enquired about the condition of their huts. They were also allowed to watch film shooting on their request. The tribal people gifted Mammootty the vegetables they brought along with them.
