Thiruvananthapuram: After a long wait, their 20 -year-old love story has had a happy ending. Ramadasan Potti and Rajani, both working as Undersecretaries in the Secretariat, have been waiting for their families’ consent to get married for the past 20 years.
Finally, it was the Speaker of Kerala Legislative Assembly P. Sreeramakrishnan, who compelled Ramadasan and Rajani to get married when he came to know about their love story.
Ramadasan Potti (50) and Rajani (44) joined as assistants in the accounts section of the secretariat in 1996. Soon, they fell in love. Though their friends and colleagues supported them, families of both were not happy in their decision. Thus they waited hopefully for the consent of parents and relatives. As years passed, the disagreement from relatives started to melt and also they fulfilled their responsibilities to the family. Finally, the couple decided to start a new life together.
Ramadasn and Rajani tied the knot on Thursday at Sree Padmam auditorium. Though the speaker was under treatment in Coimbatore for knee joint pain, he attended the wedding. The speaker solemnized the marriage and handed over the wedding garland to both.
Rajani is the daughter of Pathanamthitta Chittar native G. Raman and Ratnammal. Ramadasan Potti is the son of late Puthanmadathil N. Sankaran Potti and Bhageerathi Ammal.
