Friends initiate proposal; Jaffar ties knot with Arifa after 30 yrs of lonely life
Thiruvegappura (Palakkad): Though he spent nearly 30 years semi paralysed, Jaffar welcomed Arifa to his life happily. Thiruvegappura Odupara native Jaffar (45) married Parappanagadi native Arifa after his friends initiated the proposal. They were sad as Jaffar remained alone even after all other friends got married and settled.
As Arifa's parents agreed to the proposal, the marriage was fixed. Rs 80,000 for the expense of wedding was gifted by Jaffar's friends. The amount was handed over by P Sudheer, K G Vinod, Shoukath, P T Abu, P P Subrahmanian and Latheef of the 1990 SSLC batch of Paruthoor High School.
Jaffar, son of late Kunjalan and late Ayisha, was half-paralysed after he met with an accident during farm works at the age of 17. After the death of his parents, Jaffar's siblings took care of him. Later, his sisters were married off and he stayed with his elder brother. For the last 4 months, he was living alone.
Jaffar had joined 'Sahayathra' Charitable Society in Koottanad in the meantime. He started finding an income by selling products from 'Sahayathra'. He started connecting with the outer world after this.
Jaffar said that he felt like having a companion in life during this phase of life. On Friday, Arifa's family members reached Jaffar's house and held the Nikah ceremony adhering to COVID protocol. The wedding feast was organised by 'Sahayathra'.
