Forest dept to distribute 4.49 lakh tree saplings in Kasaragod on Environment Day
Kasaragod: The forest department has arranged 4,49,000 tree saplings to be distributed in the district on World Environment Day. The saplings will be distributed to the public and organizations through 6 nurseries in the district.
The saplings are grown by sowing hybrid seeds from seed centres. Trees like guava, teak, mahogany, tamarind, gooseberry, jackfruit tree, pomegranate, custard apple and the like are arranged for distribution.
The saplings are meant for the schools mainly. However, the saplings are given to voluntary organizations, clubs, panchayats and water authority as well.
The district-level inauguration of World Environment Day will be held on June 5 at 10.30 in the morning at Kasaragod Government College. District panchayat president AGC Basheer will inaugurate the event.
The saplings are distributed through the nurseries in Edayilakkad (8547603834), Chettukundu (8547603837), Manikkoth (8547603835), Anangoor (8547603840), Kottoor (8547603843) and Majirpalla (8547603842).
