Finally, Sreedevi comes to know of her class X victory through Mathrubhumi
Malakkappara (Thrissur): At last, the call came through on Sunday morning at 7, the one teachers had been anxiously waiting. Sreedevi conveyed her happiness and gratitude with them after she came to know of her achievement, full A Plus grades in Class 10 board exam.
“Is it full A Plus? Though father said so, I can’t believe it,” she told Sini teacher. The call kept dropping in between due to network issues. She was calling from her father’s phone standing with an umbrella outside in the rain, kilometers from her house. Most of the teachers had failed to contact her due to lack of connectivity.
Sreedevi, a student at the Nayarangadi Model Residential School in Chalakudy was unaware of her SSLC results though it was declared five days back. She is living with her father Chellamuthu in Thirumoorthy Kadambara tribal hamlet in Pollachi in Tamil Nadu.
Mathrubhumi had earlier reported how, the girl travelled 150 kilometres from her house to school to appear for the last exam which was postponed due to COVID outbreak. Also, another report was published how the teachers couldn’t inform the girl of her victory.
As travel restrictions are imposed for inter-state travelling due to COVID transmission, the girl could not be informed of her victory. The teachers managed to contact her relatives in Malakkappara, a border village. But they were also unable to contact Sreedevi. The teachers and school authorities keep trying on the numbers they have, but the phone does not come under network coverage area. The school staff said they are sure that Sreedevi will call them if she comes to know the result.
However, on Saturday late night, her father informed Sreedevi that she has scored full A Plus grades in the exam. Chellamuthu came to know of his daughter’s achievement from a relative on his way back from work. Mathrubhumi had called up the relative’s house to inform of the result.
The teachers had to struggle a lot to inform her about the rescheduled exam dates. When finally the forest guards informed her about the exam dates, Sreedevi travelled a lot through the forest where signal is available and called her teachers to confirm if it was true. As Sreedevi came from Tamil Nadu, she was made to sit alone in a room to write the exam. Also she was quarantined alone in a room after the examination.
Now that the results are known, Sreedevi wishes to continue her studies in the same school in Science stream.
