Malappuram: After three years of legal procedures, Kondotty native Irfan Ahmed (17) has become an Indian citizen. He obtained Indian citizenship after letting go his American citizenship.

Irfan Ahmed is the son of Kondotty Musliyarangadi native Nanakkal Shahana and Pattambi Vallappuzha Native Kodakkadan Shahul Hameed. Shahul and Shahana had moved to the US in 1998, as they were working as software engineers there. Irfan and his brother Roshan were born in Virginia and so they were American citizens. But the family moved to Bangalore in 2010 and settled down here. Hence they applied for Indian citizenship.

Irfan is a class 12 student in Narayana School in Bangalore. The application for Indian citizenship submitted 3 years ago was settled on Wednesday. The collector handed over the documents of citizenship to Irfan. His brother Roshan also has submitted application for Indian citizenship.
