Ex-serviceman offers coconut tree climbing machine to former Kabaddi player for survival
Mannar (Alappuzha): In a merciful act, an ex-serviceman offered a helping hand to a former woman Kabaddi player who had resorted to fish selling to make the ends meet. Krishnamma, who was a coconut tree climber, was presented with a climbing machine.
Mannar native Soman Pillai, an ex-military, decided to give the climbing machine to Krishnamma (40) from Chennithala after coming to know about her plight. 'Mathrubhumi' reported the news of Krishnamma selling fish for a living though she had taken part in about 10 national-level Kabaddi competitions.
Krishanamma had participated in sub junior and senior levels and continued to take part in state-level events like Keralolsavam after her studies. She has also a coach and referee in many competitions. However, she had to work as a coconut tree climber for an income.
Later, Krishnamma was affected with diabetes and was unable to climb trees. With this, she switched her career to fish selling. She had expressed willingness to continue tree climbing if anyone could offer her a machine. On knowing this, Soman Pillai presented her the climbing machine.
