DYFI-Youth Cong workers join hands; closed hospital turn into isolation ward in 1 day
Nedumkandam (Idukki): Forgetting the differences in political ideologies, a group of DYFI and Youth Congress workers joined hands to convert the closed down Karuna Hospital here into an isolation ward as part of the coronavirus resistance activities.
The Idukki diocese handed over the hospital building and furnitures inside to the district administration on Wednesday morning. As the hospital was closed down for months, all three blocks were dirty and filled with cobwebs.
Following this, DYFI and Youth Congress activists cleaned the building as requested by the panchayat, Udumbanchola tehsildar and Nedumkandam taluk hospital superintendent. The veranda, Alphonsa block, operation theatre and the wards nearby were cleaned and sanitized.
The cleaning mission started by 12 noon and continued till 4.30 pm. DYFI district secretary Ramesh Krishnan and Youth Congress district president Mukesh Mohanan coordinated the cleaning works. The youngsters proved that political views are not a hindrance to cooperate for public good.
