Couple enters wedlock by planting saplings, gifting vegetable seeds to guests
Palakkad: Giving focus to nature conservation during the pandemic times, a young couple tied the knot by planting a tree sapling. Kailas, son of Vandithavalam native late Krishnankutty, and Suhimol, daughter of Mathoor native late Sivaraman, took the different step while entering wedlock.
The marriage ceremony was held at Chembai Memorial in Kottayi. The couple planted the tree sapling on the courtyard of the memorial of music maestro Chembai Vaidyanatha Bhagavatar. Less than 20 people including family and friends attended the wedding. The bride and groom distributed tree saplings and vegetable seeds to all guests.
The wedding was first scheduled for April 26. But the lockdown was imposed as part of COVID-19 preventive measures and they had to postpone the function. Thus the marriage ceremony was conducted on May 7 with only the rituals. The bride Suhimol is the sister of KSU Palakkad district president K S Jayaghosh.
