Councillor to bring cloth bags to all houses in the ward
Nedumangadu: Kacheri ward councillor T Arjunan is determined to bring cloth bags to all houses in the ward. Councillor is waging war against the use of plastic by delivering cloth bags to all houses in the ward using his own money.
'Abandon plastic, save the future generation' is the motive behind the councillor’s action. As part of this, awareness programs are conducted in all households. He says that the program is a huge success and that he has the full support of Kudumbashree.
Municipality chairman Chettachal Sahadevan inaugurated the campaign by handing over a cloth bag to Rajamma of Neelabhavan in Pazhavadi village. He further explained about the importance of avoiding plastic products.
The municipality has assured that more houses will be provided with cloth bags as part of the state government’s campaign against plastic. It will be distributed at low cost after being manufactured by Kudumbashree units. There are also efforts to print the municipality’s message on the bags as well.
