CM intervenes; Revathi gets admission to medical course
Kollam: Finally, Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan came to the aid of Revathi. Pinarayi directly intervened to remove the obstacles before the student for her medical admission to a Chennai college. The admission of Revathi to the Chennai ESI Medical College first met a stumbling block when she failed to produce the eligibility certificate from ESI. Revathi is daughter of Kollam Elamadu-native Babu and Radhamani.
Next, her admission was stalled again when she was unable to produce her caste certificate during the interview held on Friday. Her admission was held up and her parents informed that the certificate will be produced in the coming days. The authorities did not comply to the request. Immediately, the chairman of the Cashew Corporation S Jayamohan contacted the office of the chief minister and under the assurance that the caste certificate will be produced by September 4, admission was granted. Revathi’s dream became a reality only with the intervention of the chief minister and the Cashew Corp chairman.
Revathi along with her parents left for Chennai on Thursday night and their travel expenses was borne by the Cashew Corporation Chairman S Jayamohan. In order to help Revathi, SFI district secretary Hari and former state committee member Rahul accompanied them. A CPM member from Chennai too reached to help Revathi. As per the Supreme Court verdict, Friday is the last date for getting admission.
