Class 9 student makes eco-friendly Christmas tree with bamboo frame, millet seeds
Christmas trees decorated with stars, snow drops, bobbles and gift boxes could be the best on a Christmas day.
But Wayanad Ambalavayal native Alan, a class 9 student, has made a different type of Christmas tree in an eco-friendly manner.
Alan’s tree looks like only a pile of dirt on the initial days, but it will grow into a beautiful tree with green foliage in a few days.
For this, Alan covered a giant bamboo frame with dirt and sowed numerous seeds of foxtail millet (‘Thina’ in Malayalam) inside it.
He also waters the tree every day. When the seeds sprout within 2-3 days, it turns into a beautiful green Christmas tree.
The picture of Alan’s tree was shared by Satheesh Kumar on Facebook a few days back. He happened to see the sight on his way and decided to let people know about the good idea for a green Christmas.
Satheesh Kumar has also apologised to the readers for not waiting to take the pictures after the seeds sprout.
