Cherthala: Bijumon, a driver in Cherthala, won a jackpot worth Rs 75 lakh from Kerala government’s Win-Win lottery. Interestingly, he swapped the Rs 500 cash prize won by his mother in another lottery ticket with another lottery ticket.
When Bijumon arrived at a lottery agency to claim the prize money of Rs 500 for his mother's ticket, he took Win-Win lottery tickets instead of the money. One lottery ticket among them brought fortune to Bijumon’s life.
M Bijumon is a native of Kochuchira in Cherthala municipality. The ticket carrying the number Win-Win WJ 693433 has won the first prize worth Rs 75 lakh.
His mother Padmavalli won Rs 500 for Karunya lottery ticket. Biju took the ticket to Akshya Lucky Centre at Vadakke Angadi junction to claim the cash prize. But as the agency owner did not possess enough money, Bijumon took three Win-Win lottery tickets from there. When he reached the agency to receive the balance amount, he got the good news of winning the jackpot.
Bijumon also won conciliation prize of Rs 8000 each for the other two tickets. Bijumon is not in the habit of buying lottery tickets.
With the prize money, he wants to repair his old house which leaks during rain.
“I took loan to purchase the land and construct the house. So, I have to settle all debts. I only have such small plans,” said Bijumon. He surrendered the ticket at Cherthala Urban Bank to claim the prize money.
His mother Padmavalli runs a small shop near Vayalar bridge. She used to take lottery tickets whenever lottery sellers reach her shop.
Padmavalli and Bijumon are excited as a small amount of Rs 500 turned them lucky to claim the jackpot worth Rs 75 lakh.
