Cherry tree planted 9 yrs ago uprooted; Man who planted it came to rescue too
Chavakkad (Thrissur): A cherry tree that was uprooted in front of Chavakkad civil station a few days ago has been brought back to life with the efforts of a nature lover the other day. Ali Fareed who planted the Malaysian cherry tree nine years ago on the roadside of national highway came to the rescue of the tree.
It was Ali who planted most of the trees along the national highway in front of the civil station. Hailing from Kottappuram in Chavakkad, Ali Fareed’s one side of the body is paralysed. Yet he is active planting trees on the roadside. He planted the cherry tree in 2010. The tree was uprooted after some of its roots were destroyed during the tiling works of the road.
Ali sought permission from the municipality authorities and met the expenses to lift the tree in his own risk. In order to fix the tree on ground, all of its branches were chopped off except the trunk. Then it was lifted and fixed on ground firmly.
