Bag with 30 sovereigns of gold found on track during inspection in Kottayam
Kottayam: A bag containing 30 sovereigns of gold, which went missing during a train journey in Kottayam, was located on the tracks by the railway employees during inspection. The missing bag containing the jewels belonged to M S Rajan and disappeared between Kottayam and Ettumanoor stations.
Site engineer Rahul and site supervisor Sandeep who were on duty for the rail doubling works located the bag. Rajan, who was a railway employee in Chennai, was travelling to Kottayam along with his family, when his bag went missing.
After the train left Ettumanoor station, the family was to alight at Kottayam and was getting ready with their baggage near the door. When the train reached Kottayam, the bag went missing and they immediately filed a complaint with the railway police. Though Rajan had conducted a search twice on the tracks, he could not locate the baggage. The bag was handed over to the Kottayam Railway police.
