Auto drivers initiate new ideas to resist disease transmission
Alappuzha: The auto rickshaw drivers in the city are trying new ways to resist COVID-19. The Motor Vehicle Department gave new directions to ensure social distancing and stop disease transmission through contact.
Most of the autos in the city were plying with shields installed between the driver cabin and passenger seat. It was directed that the drivers should keep the name and address of the passengers when they enter the vehicle from Wednesday onwards. However, some drivers were not aware of this.
Meanwhile, the auto drivers in KSRTC stand started journey after checking temperature of the passengers using thermal scanner and cleaning hands with sanitizer. The last date for installing shields behind the driver cabin is July 24. After this, checking will be made stricter.
The instruction to keep details of passengers was given in order to track them in case of disease transmission. This need to be written on a paper only. The authorities informed that strict checking will be imposed in the coming days. The Motor Vehicle Department has given time to implement the safety measures.
