Pulppally (Wayanad): Auto driver Biju hailing from Kolavalli tribal colony does not have to worry about giving better education to his children. He got the first prize worth Rs 70 lakh of ‘Pournami’ lottery of the state government in a draw held on Sunday.
The 38-year-old is in the habit of buying lottery tickets regularly. The tickets bought from lottery seller Madhavan fetched him the jackpot. When asked about his plans, Biju did not think for even a moment to reply that he would invest on his children’s education.
Biju had to quit studies at an early age due to poverty. So he wants to give better education to his children. He conducts auto service in Seetha Mount town and saves every penny he earns for his kids’ schooling.
Biju and wife Leela have three children. Their sons Libin is in class 10, Lithin in class 6 and daughter Lijitha in class 1. Earlier, Biju was working as a daily wage labourer. He has been working as auto driver for the past one year.
He is relieved now as the prize money can be used for clearing the debts including the loan taken for buying auto rickshaw. He added that he will continue driving auto in the town in spite of hitting jackpot.
